I also helped to found two Indian charities. SHIKSHA provides free education to children of the transient labour population of building site-workers. Shiksha has more than 1200 registered students of which 800 - 900 attend school on a regular basis. In 2004, I helped found another charity, CHIKITSA which provides free medicines to slum dwellers living on the outskirts of New Delhi. Alongwith dispensing free medicines, it operates mobile clinics which visit the slums. In 2010, there were 10,000 registered patients.

From 2005 to 2010 I was an adviser at the charity Scope and continue to donate to them, and I am the Governor of the Rainbow Foundation in the UK.

A former President of the Fitzwilliam Society, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, I am a member of the fundraising committee at Fitzwilliam College. I have also funded a bursary at my old school, Kings School in Canterbury, Kent in order to widen access to the school and for sports facilities. To date I have given more $5 million to various charities and organisations in the UK and India.
